A photo shoot in a sunflower field, how could it get much better? Well, this one took a little patience to pull off. Lindsay and Rob chose this spot in Newbury, Mass being en route from Rob’s job. I’d never heard of Colby Farm, but turns out they are pretty well known for their sunflower field.
The original shoot was scheduled for July. No sunflowers yet. Try August. Nope, they aren’t out yet, try waiting a month! I was getting a bit nervous as plants are pretty happy sticking to seasons and a whole month late seemed unusual.
But sure enough, right after Labor Day, the sunflowers were at their peak! Lindsay drove down from NH, I drove up from a wedding in NJ and Rob made it out of work early.
Unfortunately we weren’t the only ones to hear the good news. Cameras, cell phones and even a video crew were documenting the bursting yellow flowers. The sun was harsh, and the perfect corner of the field with a bit of shade was being used.
Lindsay and Rob were super awesome and we experimented with a few other areas.
We brought out Lindsay’s crafty side with a shot for their save the date cards.
I’m pretty sure we lost 5 pounds each in sweat, so the change in clothes and shade were a welcome wrap to our afternoon. They left triumphant and I journeyed on to Newburyport for dinner on the ocean and uncontained giddiness to upload images!
