Imagine this, you’re heading off to a business networking event, planning on representing your career, likely after a long day of work where your clothes feel like they are overdue for laundering and a glass of wine with PJs sounds pretty darn good. But you go, and bam! You meet the person you’re going to marry. A year later the wedding plans are under way followed by a gorgeous seaside October wedding.
Boston College grads, we photographed their engagement session on campus. However, it seems there are many overlaps in their lives. Laura’s close friend, bridesmaid and fellow photographer, Elaine is the one who introduced us to the couple, so we can’t go on without giving her a big shout out!
To know Laura and Kevin, you’d get the sense that they would have met eventually. One of the best man speeches summed it up pretty well. Kevin has always been the picky type. In fact, no one ever had much passion for any of his previous girlfriends, including Kevin, hence why none ever seemed to stick.
Kevin has never been the type to settle for anything (another reason we are pretty happy to have been their wedding photographers!) So really it was just a matter of time before the perfect woman entered his scene. And no surprise that he was entirely aware and ready to take action when it happened!
Laura is a unique, fun loving, warm hearted, intelligent woman and it wasn’t at all a surprise that I fell in love with her on first meeting too! I mean, who invites a stranger to their Boston home and answers the door in running shoes on a Sunday morning to talk wedding plans?
Keith and I spent an hour scouring the Newport harbor for just the right First Look location. The wedding party looked on as Laura and Kevin had their private moment under a warming midday October sun before heading into formal shots.
The bridal parties were filled with family from both sides, and at times it was difficult to differentiate between the two families.
Newport has a reputation of being a town filled with mansions and money. Laura and Kevin redefined it to fit their personalities. A private patio overlooking the harbor, a sun filled atrium for cocktails and not a guest in attendance without immeasurable love for the couple. Yes, even the teenagers.
It was back in April at the home opener for the Red Sox that Kevin popped the question. He arranged it with Fenway for the video screen to assist. I don’t think either of them had much room in their hearts for disappointment at the Red Sox’s loss.
Kevin called us a week before the wedding to fill us in on a surprise guest he had lined up to make an appearance. The furry green reminder of that day in April was an instant hit with every child, but had a much more emotional response with Laura.
The Green Monster raised the excitement level in the reception hall leaving everyone to dance the night away!
Congratulations Laura and Kevin and all the happiness for your journey as Mr. and Mrs.!
