Many photographers make it a rule never to photograph family or friends, but I absolutely love it! How better to capture personalities than to really know them well? And when they choose a gorgeous venue, how can I say no? The groom, a friend of my dad’s and someone I’ve known for years (and through a few previous relationships!) Ron is an incredibly smart charismatic man who also happens to be a lawyer. Don’t hold any stereotypes to him though, he ran a winery for years, has his pilot’s license and trekked through the Himalayas. It’s no wonder he attracted such a vibrant beautiful woman as Karen (okay, I am slightly biased here!) Karen is finishing her MSW in Seattle, and has a heart of gold. Originally from Minnesota, she moved to NYC and ran a fund dedicated to justice for all. The couple absolutely glow in one another’s presence, traveling the world, reading, learning to play the violin. This is a couple you want to have over for dinner!
Who: Karen Falkingham + Ron Kohut
Where: Seattle’s Boat Street Cafe
Why: “She makes my heart sing”
Ron has four daughters, one of whom brought her son. It’s no wonder Ron is such a patient man with so many women in his life!
The ceremony was held in the courtyard of the cafe, while guests gathered around casually. It was intimate, simple and perfectly fit Ron and Karen.
Formal pictures were held above the cafe at the entrance to offices on street level. A few closer friends made their way up to join in. Ron and Karen are anything but formal, so this was as brief as it was fun and perfectly times as the clouds parted for a few rain free moments.
Daughters 1, 2, 3 and 4 plus grandson Jack make for quite a good looking family! (I’ll be Ron is happy to have Jack around!)
True to their style, the reception was the bulk of the night with fabulous wine, gourmet eats and plenty of laughter. Friendships were born, the sun set and this amazing staff appeared from nowhere bearing plates of amazingness.
I just had to snap a shot of this amazing salad. Every time I look at it I’m reminded of the moist juicy sweetness of those figs! Paired with delicate greens and a chevre topped crostini. I could have eaten four plate’s worth!
Congrats Ron + Karen! I can’t wait to hear updates of trips to Paris, MSW graduation and summer getaways to the Cape! Love you both!
