What an epic location with an awesome couple! I feel like I say this about all our clients, but Sasha and Albert are such an amazingly unique and wonderful pair! Just that we can say this makes Keith and me pretty darn lucky
Sasha and Albert were referred to us by a photographer friend (thanks Justine!!!) and will be getting married on the island of North Hero in Lake Champlain, one of my favorite spots in Vermont (my alma matter!)
Keith and I offer engagement sessions included with each wedding we do, however often couples don’t live near their wedding site. No problem! Have you seen how much we travel? So, Keith and I were down in their stomping grounds of New York City and they were kind enough to work with our schedule. Enter Roosevelt Island.
I lived on the Upper West Side for 4 years and traversed the 59th Street Bridge oodles of times, but never stopped at this offbeat little island with some amazing gems! Our first surprise? The blossoms were in full force!
So of course we had to take full advantage before moving into Four Freedoms Park! However as luck would have it, the skies darkened and weather predictions came true.
Sasha and Albert weren’t phased in the least and we took full advantage of a park to ourselves!
Until the thunder rolled in and security implored us to take cover! Optimism won out, and we were back in no time for more!
Four Freedoms Park was completed right before Sandy brought her devastation, so the park is still relatively unknown. Slabs of granite, green lawn and the ruins of an abandoned asylum are enough eye candy without the amazing vistas of the Manhattan skyline and Queensboro Bridge.
Keith and I could have spent all day here with them, but dinner plans with my parents called! So we parted ways and hopped on the Queensboro Bridge gondola for an aerial ride back to the city! It almost made us forget the hassle of hiking through midtown trying to find a running train to the island!
